Midwestern Higher Education Compact
Larry Isaak is president of the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC), a position he has held since 2011, as well as from 2003 to 2010. During his tenure Isaak helped lead a significant expansion in MHEC activities related to student access and success, policy research, and cost savings. Isaak leads a staff of 10 full-time professionals and an extensive network of volunteers who serve on MHEC program and advisory committees. Isaak served as chancellor of the North Dakota University System (NDUS) from 1994 to 2003, where he guided collaborative leadership efforts to transform the system through the North Dakota Higher Education Roundtable. Prior to being named NDUS chancellor, Isaak served as vice chancellor for administrative and student affairs at NDUS from 1984 to 1994. Isaak earned both his master's degree and his bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of North Dakota.
